Surely Poem by alex haywood

Surely

Will I again unwrap
a present of the heart?
I, so past
the halfway mark
who's looked at death
and felt it's breath
miss me and
pluck
my magic.
Yet I know
it takes a moment
for an albatross to soar,
surely,
I have a minute left.
