Sweeping Me Into Eternity Poem by Keena Day

Sweeping Me Into Eternity

When God first created man
I wonder if he had you in mind
Blessed with all the beauty from
The divine
From your hair follicles and that mind.
Damn you're so fine.
Made from the soil of Africa
Harboring the soul of a Griot
Or possibly Mandingo-
The spirit of war resonates within.
Your smile is a beautiful as the rising sun on the Serengeti.
Lovely,
Warm,
Wide.
And full of culture.
Your hair, coiled like the Rastas
Armed with that knowledge: Selassie, Garvey, Marley
Guides your purpose
So that you become the purpose of others,
Because success follows you like sharks followed slave ships.
Your sensuality is breathtaking.
Never selfish.
Always aiming to please
Your queen
Knowing how to put a smile on my countenance.
Charming me while sweeping me into eternity.
