Sweet Dreams Poem by Paul Butters

Sweet Dreams

Rating: 5.0

I’m Lost!
I’m trying to find my way home
From work;
Hopping from bus to bus
Town to town.
And nobody knows the place where I live.
On and on.

Then I awake!
Must dash to the loo.
Again.
Just once this time.
The pills are starting to work.
Less dreaming now;
Less re-awakening
From dreamworld wars.
Less need for waterfalls.
And less exhaustion through the day,
From sleep deprivation.

In Life,
Sometimes,

The simplest of things
Are what really matter.
And peaceful nights
Count
For a lot.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Your final stanza is somehow in itself so very... telling, true, accurate... I can sure relate to this one. (If a reader can relate, that's the mark of a grand piece, in my opinion) . t x

I know poet's are not meant to comment on their own poems, so I will not. Just to thank you Kim Schilling for your kind assessment which you sent to me privately. Glad you liked it. And DONNA - sign up to Poemhunter and you can comment too! You can even comment on Shakespeare if yu wish - he's not bad.
