Symmetry

I looked into my mirror,
Smiling wide.
I saw myself in halves.

I looked at a circle,
And folded it in half.
That made me laugh.

I skateboarded down,
A smooth and hard sidewalk.
I stayed in the middle line.

It was so symmetrical,
So very fine.

The universe is a symmetry,
That I folded in half today.

poet Ambrose Bierce

Weather
by Ambrose Bierce

Once I dipt into the future far as human eye could see,
And I saw the Chief Forecaster, dead as any one can be--
Dead and damned and shut in Hades as a liar from his birth,
