Take Me Down To The River Poem by Hunter Jade East

Take Me Down To The River

Rating: 4.0

Sorry if I can't see past tomorrow
Cause darling I'm stuck in yesterday
I just need someone to follow
Just until I can find my way

Take me down to the river
So I can bow my head and pray
Lay my head down by your side
Tell me now of better days
Take me down to the river
Cause I think I've lost my way
This emptiness I feel inside
Never seems to go away

I should have known it all along
That I can't rely on myself
Should have known that I was wrong
Never thought I'd need someone else

Take me, take me, take me down to the river
So I can bow my head and pray
And darling we can reconcile
If only you could feel the same
Take me down to the river
Wash my clean of yesterday
Maybe you can reconsider
Before you turn and go away

I thought I knew just who I was
Until you came and changed my mind
I'm not the same as I was
Even if I'm broke inside

Take me down to the river
So I can bow my head and pray
Lay my head down by your side
Tell me now of better days
Take me down to the river
Cause I think I've lost my way
This emptiness I feel inside
Never seems to go away
