Tales From Beneath: Within His Eyes Poem by Abu Imran

Tales From Beneath: Within His Eyes

Once beneath a time
So deep into the mysteries of life
And just as shallow as it could not hide
I came to know of this boy so fine
That his being I couldn’t define
’cept that his eyes,
Filled with a thousand stars, would shine
For his folks in cloudy nights.

‘Today’ he was born
‘Tomorrow’ he had grown
Just enough to come to know
How the stream of life seems to flow
One after the other the stars started to go
Nine hundred and ninety nine to zero
Down into darkness he crept in a motion so slow
That he never realized until completely blind he was

Then ………..
One day, something bizarre happened
One star appeared in both his eyes!
Now, this star was at world’s end
It shone and shone with style
Than the thousand lost it shone so bright
To grasp it he tried with all his might
“Patience”, it whispered, calmly than a sigh

But then ………..
One month, something common (but not to him) occurred
One huge ball of fire came into his view
It seemed to glitter to the young lad
Like nothing, from his past, he ever knew
So near it was that soon it was in his hand
Drunk he became from the fire’s brew
Coldly, his heart got almost burned
‘The star’ was the one: restored him to new;

All the while, all the time, all month
The light of the star grew brighter and brighter
Closer to him each day it would come
And by this everything became clearer and clearer
For behind the star were the lost thousand
And within the ‘fireball’ was a hole that ran deeper and deeper
Into an infinitely sorrow-filled land
It was after the month that he finally discovered:

The star was his eternal peace
The ‘fireball’ his internal demise
And that then he really knew
How the stream of life really flowed
