Tanka Poetry Poem by Amar Agarwala

Tanka Poetry

Rating: 5.0

My Tanka poems
Are far sweeter than the rest
By the heavens blest.
For the heavens love to hear
These sweet verses loud and clear.

For the Gods would hark
In daylight and in the dark
Its rhythm sublime.
Revel in its melody
Tasting its nectar divine.

So that in Eden
Some space for me would be found
With Angels around.
That I may write sweet verses
Of Tanka profound.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
THE BEAUTY OF TANKA POEMS

Tanka, the Japanese form of poetry, is an extension of Haiku, another very popular form of classical poetry, which is as old as the hills. As a poet, I love to experiment with different forms of verses, hence this feeble attempt at Tanka.

I hope it has made some sense. If not, I beg forgiveness of my fellow poets.
