Tears Poem by Justin Bemis

Tears

These tears are not for happiness nor are they for pain,

they're a tool I use to fill my heart that once held your name.

the melancholy in my eyes isn't for world hunger or world peace,

its the longing for nights past sitting, watching as you sleep.

the wrinkles in my face aren't from aging or growing old,

they're from the endless sleepless nights of wanting you to hold.

the bruises on my knees and the sounds of gentle cracks,

are due to the hours praying that God will bring you back.

for you to hear these words is reason that I try,

then just maybe one day, I could stop these tears I cry.....
