Ted And Jack Poem by Francis Duggan

Ted And Jack

Old Ted says there is a reason at eighty two that i am alive
Good health only one reason to this age i did survive
And it is not due to luck alone that anyone to an old age does last
I am one who has never driven my car too fast
His wife Kate of cancer died two decades ago
And time that rusts iron has become his foe
A grandfather twelve times he lives on his own
Ted is one well liked by all to he is known
Often see Ted in the park with his fox terrier Jack
His devoted canine companion a sprightly white and black
Jack at three years old in his physical prime
And Ted gray haired and wrinkled showing the wear of time
Ted will tell you of anything in life he does not lack
And he is so lucky to have his friendJack.
