Tell Me Something Of You Poem by Emmanuel Stone

Tell Me Something Of You

Rating: 1.0

I can tell by your cigar
and by your black hat
that you are a fine man.

Let us have some wine,
Now tell me all about you.

“I work in shares, you know
I kind of fell into it- well I was pushed really
My father wanted me to do it
But I enjoyed it and so never complained.

“I’m married to my beautiful wife, Louise
And we have two children, aged eight and ten
Who are both in primary school
The younger one is Anna and the boy is Tom.

“Every year we go on holidays to somewhere new
Last year we went to Canada
And we all had a marvellous time,
It was very exciting in the snow.

“Every Friday I meet with my dear friends
They’re all acquaintances from college, you see
Sometimes we play cards or we go to the races,
This week we’re going to the theatre.

“I must say, I do love a good cigar
And this wine is a... Riesling, you say?
Most superb choice, my good lad
But now, tell me something of you.”
