Tell Me What You See? Poem by Aileen Figueroa

Tell Me What You See?

Rating: 4.0

I leaned back on an old tree.
Full of memories and
held secrets on its branches
of heartbreaking lies,
of unkept promises,
of stories never told.

I close my eyes,
anticipating a change.
Speaking to the earth,
as I buckled down
to the ground
on my knees.
The outcome or the meaning?
The earth seems to be ready
to give birth to a wealth of
valuable thoughts.

I touched the wind and
spoke to an old spirit
that whispered,
“Close your eyes” so I did.
“If when you open your eyes
the day is sunny and bright
so shall your future be,
If the day is full of storms
so should be your life.
Now open your eyes!
Tell me what you see? ” So I did.
“I see rainbows rising
from the ground up.
Freeing its self into the atmosphere”.

I witness brilliant colors
Known and unknown to me.
I witness all of the possibilities
Of what it could have all been.
Of what it could be.
Possibilities that are vastly
still in store in me.
