Temple Poem by Alexander Thomas

Temple

How distantly I travelled to find it,
Over seas and mountains high,
Through walls and mirrors to the other side,
Beyond the furthest reaches,
To the far gone place,
The secret temple.

At the altar burns the essence of being,
The pearlescent glowing centre of self,
A temple built of dreams, emotions and thoughts,
Adorned by words of opulent colours,
Light resonates from it searching the skies,
Its stained glass windows tell an epic story,
Of hope, tragedy and woe,
On holy waters reflect the image of true love.

Am I lost and alone in this place?
The candles burn forever in your memory,
Walled in by forbidden love,
Only you have the key,
Warped and bent time spirals,
The gate will always open for you,
Follow the flow of your subconscious and your dreams to me my lover,
For here lives eternity.
