The nighttime winds of discontent
Give temptation an alluring hue,
Gilded words softly caress my ear,
But I can love no one but you
Sweet intimations tease my heart,
Drenching my thoughts like morning's dew,
Romantic invitations entice,
I turn away..... for love of you
Dark and lonely hours parch my heart,
Then a fountain comes into view,
How furtively I could quench my thirst,
But I'll drink from no one but you
Taunting dreams interrupt my sleep,
Peace and calm are long overdue,
The fire burns with a steady flame,
But the fire burns only for you
Temptation can emit sweet perfume,
What is a confused heart to do?
Then my angels take charge over me....
They'll let me love no one but you
Echoes of temptation linger,
But my conscience is free of rue,
The door to my heart will remain locked
And will open only for you
most beautiful depiction of a commitment for the one locked in heart, and to whom only this heart would be unlocked. poetry at its best.
Hope! May it always flower in your heart dear Poet. I'm no genius and have had my own problems with loving women and feeling loved back as you well know, but there is one thing that I am 99.99% sure of, and that is that expectations kill love. True love I believe is the ability to receive the love others bring us, not a check list we devise to verify their love is real. My prayer for myself at least is that I will have the courage to let the love that finds me come into my heart, locking the door only when I find it comes with conditions.
