Temptations To Please Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Temptations To Please

What today is being presented to represent,
The highest of values.
With them politically and religiously,
To uphold, maintain...
And reflect the best of kept interests,
Of the people to expect.
Seems to be more a wish to document.
Than activities observed to perform.
Since...
Few sitting in positions,
Selected and picked with titles to get.
No longer go through the motions to pretend,
A slinging of mud and airing their dirty laundry...
Has become difficult to defend.
When those who are pretentious,
Begin to realize to recognize...
They too have had those moments,
To invite some sleaze with temptations to please...
A doing it publicly.
Then to ask to be forgiven for being human.
