Tennessee Poem by campbell harrelson

Tennessee

Have you ever seen hills so green
they drift into blue sky ?
Have you ever seen Tennessee
with the human eye ?

I look at her as a beautiful lady,
with a smile upon her face.
I look at her and can't help but love
the nature of this place.

There are places there beyond compare
and streams turn into fountains,
Yet, it is water coming down
from off the tops of mountains.

It plummets to the earth
and runs to the rivers below,
and then it seems to ascend again
to places we can't go.

Springtime in the mountains
is a beauty to behold.
Daffodils on windy hills
are worth their weight in gold.

Summer comes to this great land,
as if a dream come true.
Cattle grazing, plants are growing,
food for me and you.

Then one morning when you awake,
a chill is felt out there,
Time to harvest all the crops,
for winter is in the air.

I have not lived in Tennessee,
but I have seen the green of greens,
I have touched the autumn leaves
within my travelings.

I've kissed the snow capped mountains
and felt the chill to the bone.
That is why I am sort of jealous
of people who call Tennessee home.

For I do know that God did carve
the beauty in these mountains,
and loved us dear ones just enough
to set aside these fountains.
