Terrain Of War Poem by Kayode Ogunleye

Terrain Of War

Rating: 4.9

Those who served the country
Before are gone and dead
Never again will they return
War has brought death and
Dislocation upon us

Depriving many of their property
Making men and women
Fall a victim of circumstance
Not measuring the value they worth
But struggling for survival

See what war has done to us
Making people homeless
And becoming a refugee
in their own country
Separating the families
Children cry in anguish
Father forget his children
In the war front
Escaping for his dare life
Only the beginning is being seen
the end no one could tell
Oh war! How I wish
It never happened
When we our nation be great
When we our boarder extend
Leaving the memory to tell.

i'm glad i'm not the only one opposed to war and i guess that makes us 'poetical anti-war activists' if there's anything like that.

Dear Ogunleye Kayode, Mine is the same comment as Stella S Qishi on your poem 'War'. It can express the very tragic essence of what a war is, in my opinion. Of course that we as poets sometimes let the feelings only emerge from our hearts, not adding any 'poetic technique' which is important too. This is what brings to the feeling a 'proper clothing', that is what characterizes this genre. I may be mistaken, but in your case it´s going to happen very soon! I´ll keep reading them and sending some comments, OK? Congrats from Brasil!

I too wish wars would end forever. They never end well and so many have to die for it. Why why why is all one can ask. Good meaning and well worded. I like this one.

Well said. Wars are about economics, in the end, but they are made of people.

War is the most evil deed of mankind. History will ever remember and the coming generation will certainly abuse for this evil deed.
