Thank You Poem by Barry Hughes

Thank You

Here I am, in you presence again
Hey I'm here, asking forgiveness again
Over and over I fell on my face
But you picked me up and stood in my place
You took on my pain, and all my worst fears
You showed me true love, and wiped away tears
You know all my dreams, my first waking thought
The scars that I hide, and the battles I've fought
You've always been here, right by my side
Through the thick and the thin, and the times that I cried

I remember a time, when I laughed at your name
When I hid from the light and cowered in shame
A time in my life, when I was unloved and alone
But you've blessed me with friends and you gave me a home
You've shown me compassion and taught me to love
You’re the gateway to heaven, and my father above
You brought a purpose to life, a reason to live
Nothing brings strength like the hope that you give
You’re the grin on my face, and the light in my eyes
You see the real me and none of the lies

The forgiveness you give is all that I need
With you in my life my soul has been freed
You came from the Heavens to live in my heart
You were here before time, right from the start
Your death on the cross showed the meaning of love
You brighten our lives from the heavens above
You light up our paths and show us the way
You’re here in my heart and that’s where you’ll stay
You’re the savior of souls, and our saving grace
And all you require is having our faith
