That First Mile Poem by Paul Daniel

That First Mile

I often stop, try to remember
Exactly when my life, fell apart.
Bit by bit, paid no attention
I never thought that it would get this far.
But it's at the stage where I feel this is my only escape.
I'd gladly take it, so come on someone show me another way.

No. Didn't think so. So I'll just go, quitely.
I wonder if anyone, will miss me.

This man, sitting on the floor.
Feels so strange yet he's been here before
Sitting, thinking, chipping paint off the wall.
Hey. It's time to stand tall.

I dont know, when it all crashed down,
but I know that I want it to stop....
Then and now, everything so loud
and im losing every friend that i've got.
But I've learned to stand tall,
And walk down the street with a smile.
And even though it's so hard, and yes it's so far.
I've only got to make that first mile.

Oh that man, staring at the sky
Shaking his head and asking 'oh god why? '
Clenched fist and a tear in his eye
Nows the right time.

You dont know, when it all crashed down,
but you know that you want it to stop....
Then and now, everything so loud
and your losing every friend that you've got.
But now it's time to stand tall,
And walk down the street with a smile.
And even though it's so far, and I know it's so hard.
You've only got to make that first mile.
