That Girl... Poem by Alias Alias

That Girl...

Rating: 5.0

When you see that little girl,
all alone in the corner.
how do you feel?

does it make you cry
at the thought of someone abandoning their own child?
or do you laugh at her,
with her tears streaming down her mournful face?

do you feel uncontrollable anger,
when you remember all the times,
you spent sitting in your own room,
when nobody was home.
or is it happiness you feel?
do you take comfort in her agony?

did you ever think to ask her why,
she was sitting there with puddles,
of grief and distress flowing,
out of her in the form of tears?

i doubt you even thought twice,
about the stupid remark,
you made as you hurried by.

You're too busy to see
the true reason she was there,
alone and afraid of what was yet to come.
Of course at a glance you couldn't possibly
have known how much she has gone through,
how much she has suffered to try and keep going,
day after painful day.

'keep going, you can do it' she tells herself,
with every heartbreaking breath
she can manage to pull.

Maybe...just maybe you could
be a little more understanding
of the challenges she faces
on a daily basis.
