“I Moved Along the Bushy Path,
To See If I Could Find;
Find her footprints in the scattered sand
Or the Exact Spot
Where We Used To Play,
And That Particular Tree, We Used To Under-Sit.
BUT NO!
The spot was very bushy
Because we do not sit there again
The Place Was Dead Silent,
Because Our Voices Are No More
And, The River We Used to Swear To
Is now A winding, wobbling Stream.
She Left Without Letting Me Know,
She Journeyed Without a Farewell Message;
She Went With the Night;
It Took Her Away,
And Never Brought Her Back;
To Come and Bid me a Farewell
To Come and Check Her Results;
The Results of A Tiresome Final SHS Exams
Of Which She Was Caught and Knocked;
And To See If She Could Get an ‘A1’ In Government
As She Promised Me”
