That Shining Light

When darkness falls across the seas
And hides scarred rugged land
A beacon bright, breaks through the gloom
To guide the helmsman's hand.

White pillars tall, on rocks of stone
By the hands of men they glare
To save the lives that would be lost
If they were never there.

What guards the men, who tend the lights?
What of the plights they face?
For every man who serves at sea
There's a woman full of grace.

And when their men go off again
Oe'r salty seas to comb
Their beacons bright, they always shine
To guide them safely home.
