The Ballad Of Ivory Queen Jones Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Ballad Of Ivory Queen Jones

The night awakes
a stranger to the sense of urgency
The stars light a fire
giving way to another time
another place
A feeling of deep need
Legs quiver, not knowing where their to head next
Do you hear it, the voice that calls to them
That calls through the blacken clouds
across the lights that mimic the stars that flash on and off
Listen to how it feels
How it echoes
the memory of her smile
The song that plays its repeated broken verse
Seeking a heart that will listen
Any ol' one will do
Listen to that sultry voice beckon
hear the eyes that sulk their infinite stare
Before a whisper of joy
Trembling
A deep silence remains
Ebony hands that shape the face of lovers past
Her soul walks where her mind can't
After leaving to a place not of this world
