The Bandarwallah Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Bandarwallah

Indian bandarwallah
With the rhesus monkeys
Coming to show the tamasha
With the small monkeys
Beating the damru
And with the bells
Tied around the necks
And the string held
Into the hand
The bandarwallah going.
To show the show,
Beating the damru,
Calling
And the monkeys ogling,
Smashing the teeth,
Pricking the body,
Picking things on the way
Sometimes in a playful way
Into the steps of his
As the master says.
