The Baptism Of Roy Keane Poem by Daniel McDonagh

The Baptism Of Roy Keane

It is there in the flags, banners and scarves,
It is there in the songs for heroes on the park,
It is there in the football that is played on the pitch,
Born from the blood and the faith of the Celtic.

It is from County Cork to the city of Glasgow,
It is to were Brother Walfrid travelled to over from Sligo,
It is to wear the Hoops on the pitch at Celtic Park,
Were the passion and pride pours through your heart.

It is were Celtic’s history lives within the supporters souls,
From John Thomson's heroics, James McGrory's goals,
It is were legends carved history on the field at Celtic Park,
Were the heritage and culture pours through your emerald heart.

In the green and white, we will learn of the Celtic way,
To play for the jersey, some will say,
Baptized by the faithful when we take to the Holy Ground,
For it is only at Parkhead were the passion can be found.
