The Beauty Of The Day Poem by Reva Kern

The Beauty Of The Day

In the early morning
The open door reveals
A burst of brilliant color,
Crimson red leaves crown
The tree
While juxtaposed next to it
One of yellow
Both contoured against
A cerulean sky of cirrus clouds-
Picture Perfect!
Where's my camera?
Must capture the very essence
Before it vanishes
Like smoke -
My heart sings with joy
For the universal order of nature
That of Daybreak following Eventide
Of Summer giving way to Autumn -
All here in this place
On this street
With these trees
At this moment
In time.
And as day moves forward and
The sun begins to set,
Layered clouds are tinted in
Shades of oranges, of lavenders
And of pinks.
Such stunning colors
Are evanescent,
Disappearing from view
As the sun with a last gasp
Of life
Slips into the abyss
Dissolving the beauty of the
Day that was.
