The Big 'L' Word Poem by Douglas Cline

The Big 'L' Word

Exposed or revealed, I felt betrayed. A wall was up, my heart was frayed. Even though it did entreat and implore. It was a place never more to explore. I wanted to go there, don't think I did not. Just never to stay long enough to get caught. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, I was cast down. In it's waters I began to drown. You may think it is crazy, but it's not absurd. If you knew my reason for believing in The Big 'L' Word.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written in 1998 for a girl I was dating who refused to use the words I Love You, she always said, I Big L Word You!
