The Biz Poem by Pat Royce

The Biz

They took me for a loner
But I was just alone
They thought that I was happy
But I was on my own

They thought that I was wicked
I suppose that that is true
But if I’m really honest
They never really knew

They thought that I was rich
They thought I was a star
They thought I was a dandy
Standing at the bar

But I am just a poor boy
With nothing much to do
But drink and think of loving
While dreaming dreams you

So let me tell you people
The way it really is
We are what we think we are
So think that you’re the biz
