The Blizzard Poem by Joe Corbett

The Blizzard

In a blizzard some time ago
as I trapsed through knee deep snow.

Headed twards, I don't know where
overtaken with despair.

I came apon a riderless horse
who seemed to be quite off course.

Across his back, there did straddle
the remnints of a ladies saddle.

One that costs a pritty price
my curiosity I must suffice.

I secured at once, the dangleing reigns
this sent a shiver through my veins.

This the saddle, I had given
in the hopes that I'd be forgiven

The outcome carried tremendous weight
when I left i was quite irate.

I said many things, I didn't mean
my departure, such a sad scene.

Now to late, to take my words back
on the horse I doubbled back

The horse he knew just where to go
through the wind and blinding snow.

He carried me back, to the barn
I saw her lying on the ground.

Face in her hands, she was crying
her hopes of my return were dying.

Off the horse to comfort her
looked in her eyes and with these words.

I said my love will you forgive me
with a smile she did agree.

She stood at once and we embraced
all the hate and shame replace.

The blizzard that night seems to last forever
but thought of loss, brought us closer together.
