The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Battered Down Berlin Wall
Both: Had One Thing In Common …
… The ‘ Inside ‘ Defeated Them, All
It Is The Crumbling Of The Interior
When Loose Beams and Rafters, Slant Down
Piece by Piece, Drops To Its Knees
And The Building Comes Crashing Down
Yes, Also – Huffing and Puffing Of Wolves
Beating On Outside, Wanting In
But It Is The Structure’s, Strength Of Heart
Whether That Allows The Beasts To Win
It Is Even So, With Individuals
If We Slump Down Into Sadness
Or Worse, If We Give In To
A Dark, Descent Into Madness
It Is The Collapse Of Morals
That, Caves-In Humanity
And The Divisive Cracks Of Hate
Which Destroys Man’s Dignity
The Painted-Pains and Ugly Shames
That We Sometimes House Inside
Those Living Without Ceiling-Conviction
… Building Permits, Should Be Denied
‘ We ’ Must Prop-Up Integrity
Make Sure, Mercy, Is Not In Disrepair
Shore-Up Our Emotion-Maintenance
With House-Doctors and Mortar-Prayer
And, If We Are Earth-Shaken
Or Our Foundation, Crushed To The Core
We Must Find The Cement, Somewhere
To Rise and Tower, More Than Before
It Is The Private-Inner Rooms
That Contains Aspirations and Decisions
They Alone, Stand Alone
Either In Construction or Demolition
Because The Blueprint Of Our Lives
Should Include More Than, Thin, Glass Tile
Which Is Good For Vanity
But, Its Excruciatingly Fragile
and, The Famous Nervous Breakdown
is A Soul’s Downfall To Defeat
When One House Falls; Like Human Dominoes
Sooner Or Later … Us, It Will Reach
… The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Battered Down Berlin Wall
All Mentioned, Have In Common
… The ‘ Inside ‘ Defeated Them All
