The Canvas Poem by Lizzie Lum

The Canvas

Bereft by the puzzlement of this outward absurdity
I consider the canvas upon which the whole lot flows
The complete everywhere upon which all things hang
Our entire humanity tangled up together, rolling along
Tumbling in to be arranged in such magnificent disorder
All shades of blue dancing with blacks, silver lining grey
The whole thing a perfectly disorganised layer of itself
Forever coming into being - all shades of everything
Silhouettes floating into spaces, busy collecting stories
