The Child Waits Poem by Richard Groom

The Child Waits

Rating: 0.5

ginger snaps and folly;
cookies crumble in
milk on the floor

ice cream in a bottle
little feet crying
momma gone

child playing with
wedding-ring
around the rosie;

bubble gum days
on the baby's
face broken

sarah talks of cats,
dogs and walks
to the window

a shrug
from a shoulder
a child no
say

to the silent phone
little eyes
to the room
a bed lamb screams:

the child
leers at mommy;
the clock ticks
time loved away

sarah stays
window mirrored
against my soul
a rainbow falls...

brownies
and tear
drops in
glass
fingers broken
