The Cold No Longer Divides

*This is alot like the poem The Cold Within. I like that poem, and tried to write a poem with the same power that it showed. Leave your comments! *

Five people gathered around
Their dying fire
It was low on fuel and need wood
And they were beginning to tire

The poor man with no money
Did not want to share his log
But as he sat he pondered
Was this really his to hog?

A woman felt the splinters
Splice through her delicate skin
She wanted to keep the spiked stick
But she knew it was wrong within

A man saw no one that he knew
He looked for a familiar face
And as he hugged his piece of wood
And wondered why were they in this place?

The rich man and his daughter
Spaced away from the needy and poor
Did not want to give, but knew
That they ALL needed it more

Finally one gave their piece of wood
Followed by the rest
And tried to save some of the logs
They know they did their best

Because one showed compassion
And put their differences aside
Everybody lived through the night
Thanks to one brave soul, none of them died
