The Conclusion Of Love Unrequited..... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Conclusion Of Love Unrequited.....

all the poems are well done
there is no trance of blood in there
the one that you love is dry and
yet still too delicious.
now the fledglings wing their way
from their mothers.
the nests have no more purpose
except to sing the lyrics of
a sweet abandon.
the mother had gone far away into
another island to carve another
meaning for its claws.
the poems were all done and the
crickets sing no more about the
bygone summers.
the leaves which fell on my feet
were swept away by the ill-winds.
now i know what all these mean.
the waves on my soles tickle me no more.
after all, the lessons learned made me
more of what i am now.
it is when love graduates from the
sufferings of an unrequited love.
the hands flower. the feet root.
the mouth sings a silent song.
the breasts grow leaves and the skies
hang their own kind of stars.
it is when love learns to forgive
when love learns to thrive in the
desert and bear the flowers of its
own sufferings.
a cactus like a woman bears a
violet flower on her hairs of thorns.
a snake covers itself with sand.
a lost black bird sits upon a stone.
the hands of a man picks a glass of
air and drinks from there.
now i know the meaning of all these.

now that you are finally gone and
i feel nothing at all.
