The Conversation

Rating: 5.0

I don’t understand – she said
When he didn’t return her calls
I’m so confused – she said
When hardly any contact was made at all

Remember when you found me – she said
And what the feeling of that first embrace was like
That was a long time ago – he said
And the words pierced her heart like a knife

His words she could not understand, how could he forget
For he was the one who said he had to find her, had to let her know
Of the love he had always felt for her
I want you in my life, he said, and I’ll never let you go again

Was she just a fling, a passing whim
A teenage fantasy he had to fulfill
He said he was sincere
She believed him through his tears
But was she blinded by love, is she just a fool

On the outside she smiles and all seems fine
But she feels a hurt never known before inside
She trusted him with her heart and soul
His words, the love, has it all been a lie

Just be honest with me – she says
Am I still in your heart, are your words still true
Just be truthful with me – she says
For I’m still in love with you

You must tell me now – she pleads
What your feelings are for me
Am I still wanted in your life – she asks
For another day cannot pass by without you answering

Help me understand – she said
For the truth is all I need
