The Cook And The Great One Poem by Raj Arumugam

The Cook And The Great One

the great man is celebrated
the genius, the wise, the mighty ones
the nonpareil, the philosophers, conquerors
persons of such dignity and stature
those of immeasurable divine nature

but they would not have been able to think,
to be inspired, to command
to create and to offer such magnificence
to the invariably un-understanding masses;
they would have been mashed early into the ground

if not for the one who prepared the meals
if not for the ones who cooked
who put the ingredients together
and scattered pepper everywhere

the cook is as important as the Great One

there is no one more than another
