The cow,

The cow,
The cow is such a beauty animal,
It's very milky,
Alot of beef,
The cow is a beautiful animal,
I see the colour and it's imagery in the world today.

I think I shall never know
An animal as beautiful as a cow
That stands serenely in the wood
    Chewing briskly on her cud.

But then what is it to be
A ruminant with four stomachs, not three
That must only stand and wait
For someone to come and open the gate.

So she can deliver white flowing stuff
    In quantities more than enough
To make our coffee and our tea
    A pleasant brown swirling sea.

(With apologies to Milton and Kilmer.)

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Lawson

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
and the sheds were all cut out;
