The Cypress Tree Poem by Ima Ryma

The Cypress Tree

Greek god, Apollo, loved the boy,
Cyparissus, to show his love,
Gave him a stag, his pride and joy.
The stag had antlers that gleamed of
Gold, and Cyparissus would ride
The stag wherever he would go.
Then by accident the stag died.
Tears from Cyparissus did flow.
He wished that he also be killed.
Apollo turned the boy into
A Cypress tree as wish fulfilled.
The god deemed such the best to do.

The tears of Cyparissus be
Sap flowing from the Cypress tree.
