The Dance Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Dance

they were dancing in circles
some with huge bellies
and there was this emaciated figure
trying to fit in
learning the steps of the dance
others complain
for he is not like all of them
the weakest link
perhaps
and they do not want to spoil
the dance
of drunkards

i wonder why, the tall lean figure
emaciated as he is
still wants to fit in and pretend
that he is enjoying the dance
of the drunkards?

again, another astonishing study
of weird human behavior

that liking to be in.
