The Dancer Upstairs Poem by Stephenie VanCampJones

The Dancer Upstairs

Rating: 4.5

In rythmic intervals
thoughts come and go;
Past to present blurs
into disjointed fragments as
October rain pelts against
the tin roof top.
He thinks back to when
it all meant something
under a cloudless sky.
Now he looks up at
cracks in the ceiling
his eyes follow the
intricate pattern.
Nostalgic sighs break
the moment's silence,
he remembers her vibrance
and intensities
But in the face of adversity
there is frailty
in love.
His heart so full
yet void of emotion
as he remembers she
used to be so graceful
that dancer upstairs.
