The Darkness Poem by Philip Kelly

The Darkness

The darkness that lies deep inside
Our deepest thoughts within abide
To let it out would be a crime
It is concealed to end of time

The pain that rests inside the mind
Is hard for others here to find
And harder still for us to tell
The deep internal churning hell

The point of this, it should be said
Is constant struggle in the head
What is right and what is wrong
Avoid the condescending gong

And so we carry roughly on
These thoughts are pushed until they've gone
And this is why we choose to hide
The darkness that lies deep inside.
