The Day God Came

I felt alone, quite down and out
So sad, most days I’d cry
I’d lived this way, so full of doubt
I’d often wished to die

But when You came, and we were wed
I drank Salvation’s Wine
I felt such joy when darkness fled
When all Your love was mine

I sang, I danced, I knelt in prayer
You severed; Satan’s ties
When chains fell off, whilst sitting there
This child; began to rise

A sight, beyond my wildest drams
Suspended in mid air
I felt Your power flow in streams
A foot above my chair

I heard Your voice, my God on high
“Today! You’re born anew”
You know my God I tell no lie
Your servant’s words are true

You shared with me Your living word
I felt Your warm embrace
Within my room, I even heard
Your Wind sweep by my face

I’d never heard, Your voice before
I’d never felt such love
But when I opened Christ, my door
He gave to me, Life’s Dove

Salvation’s Wings inside of me
I felt The Fire’s touch
I bless the day You set me free
And gave this child so much.
