The Day I Died Poem by POOJA LADYLUCK

The Day I Died

The day i died, en route to infinity
Lost as a stranger in this known city
Surrounded by a large crowd here to bid goodbye
Showing fake concerns, are waiting till i die
I raise my eyes to the blinding light
In search of you, for your one sight
Where are you? havent they told you so?
I am dying, do you know?
I stare into the sky, reeling back to my own past
Wanna live life once more till the moment i last
I remember the way i used to be, stepping ahead, conquering each piece of earth
At every step, a new challenge, and how i used to prove my worth
I remember the pride in my eyes
And how i used to ignore these ties
But for you, just you, i dared to risk everything
and everything it was, my pride, my soul, my life
But am dying now, and can risk it no more
Will you come to see me, the way you used to before?
Only you can give some worth to my death as you did to my life
You can free me from the pangs of guilt and grief
Your shining face will illuminate the place today
And your soothing voice will kill this deafening silence away
Still am here, but not you
Many moments have passed as my time flew
I want you to gather one more breath, one more moment to stay
Just an extra bit of life, to see you before i set out on my way
Alas! as your shadow overcame the blinding light
I held my breadth tightly, with all my might
I stared at your image as death had its say
And your shadow merged in darkness,
the day i passed away...........
