The Devil Within Poem by Eric Paeplow

The Devil Within

I feed your callous words,
With my cold dark breath
Your heart, within my grasp,
Your life, mine to take
That wicked smile upon your lips,
Those hate filled hands, so tense
Those things are courtesy of me
Those things are all mine
The world around, all lies
Those footsteps you hear
Are of me, close behind
Your heart tightens
As I squeeze my poison
Through your very veins
Drink with me
From my cup of revenge
Let it wash away
Your prolonged pain
Your innocence, my dinner
Eaten slowly, bite by bite
And savored, over time
My hate fills your eyes, so red
My deadly poison
Streaming through your veins
No need to save yourself
From my seven deadly sins
Nothing can save you now
For I am you
I am the devil within
