The Difficult Decision Poem by John Scarcello

The Difficult Decision

As I look around
There is no one near,
No one to care,
Or even hear.

I think to myself What is
the reason for my existence,
No answer can even
Be found in the distance.

I shall forever be alone
In this cold dark place,
This fact is to hard
To believe and embrace.

I glance around the room
Looking for an exit,
My phone began to ring
But I never checked it.

Instead I leaned over
And picked up a knife,
Tracing the veins
Thinking about my life.

The words I'm sorry
Get stuck in my throat,
As I lick the envelopes
Of the tear soaked letters I wrote.

A handful of pills
Chased with some water,
And a quick slash down the arm,
I will be free
And no longer a bother...

An insightful depiction of acute depression occasioned by loss of sunshine in one's life, well articulated and nicely penned in good rhyme scheme with conviction. Thanks for sharing John.
