The Dog I Want To Be Poem by Hal Caufield

The Dog I Want To Be

The world is amiss without you.
I know only torment and pain.
My only wish is to be
The dog that eats scraps at your table,
The hound that gaurds all your gates.
To be near you
And know you are safe
Is the only Grail I seek.
