The Dreamer Awakens Poem by Alexander Thomas

The Dreamer Awakens

Hey Mr Fox!
They stole our socks and put us in a box,
You can smell their lies so cut the ties,
And give me a grin when you take a sniff of my gin,
Let's tiptoe off under the full moon's glow,

Hey Mrs Pheasant! I ain't no peasant!
But spare me a penny or two,
I can pay you back with a rhyme,
if you'd just spare the time
Please, please be a friend to me,

Hey Miss Rabbit!
Disappearing is an awfully bad habit,
There one minute, gone the next,
It just leaves me perplexed,
I'll give you carrots if we sell gold,
So it's time to come in from the cold,

Hey Mr Grasshopper! Give us a bopper!
Let's make a tune or two,
I know it will be a whopper,
We won't come a cropper as it's a real heart stopper!
So do that little dance you do,

Hey Mr Cat! Put on your top hat!
And give me a rat a tat tat,
Don't you pussyfoot, go with your gut and shake that butt!
I'll call you Clive because you'll look jive,
On each shoulder I'll perch a bat,

Hey Mr Sheep! Just give me a peep!
I know we can make you leap,
You smoked too much grass and spend all day at mass,
But we'll show you the way over the heap,
To freedom beyond the keep,

Hey Miss Mouse!
I'll build you a bigger house,
You are sure to get fatter when size doesn't matter,
You'll no longer live like a louse,
When you're as plump and fancy as the Grouse,

Hey Mr Caterpillar!
You most certainly wrote us a mystifying thriller,
A surreal tale with a long, long trail,
(He talks sense but is so intense,
It just leaves us hanging with suspense) ,

Hey Mr Toad!
Time to get the show on the road,
So come on share the load!
I can see from the look on your face,
You want to play bass!

Alice needs to find that key and open her heart to me,
She set me free but is now lost in the sea,
It's time for us to go wild and rear our love child,
Before the dream slips away!
