The Eagle Poem by Hannington Mumo

The Eagle

Rating: 5.0

There was an eagle who long ago lived with a duck
Before he discovered his rare endowment,
That he could soar heights no bird had known;
And thus quit the company of his dwarfish friend
And begun an amity with the sharp-eyed hawk.

And begun an amity with the sharp-eyed hawk. .............I would use began. and i wonder if the eagle can really become friends with a hawk. too bad 'eagle' abandoned his duck friend. at least i hope he doesn't eat his former friend! That he could soar heights no bird had known; .............NOT A BIG DEAL, but i would put to in front of heights. And thus quit the company of his dwarfish friend ...........also N. A. B. D., but i would put he in front of quit. nice bird story. i have several, including one or two about eagles. bri :) p.s. i rarely use or think in terms of metaphor (see Pranab comment) . i like it as a straight bird story from the bird world. ok, maybe not true to life, but what do we humans really know about birds' lives? not everything certainly. to MyPoemList (i 'love' birds!)

Metaphor and imagery are strong and intelligent. Another dimension of reality cries to come out to light. Fantastic. The Eagle now in amity with the sharp-eyed hawk. Beautiful. Write more. Move on with strong feet. put! 0/10 Regards, pranab
