The Edge Of Reason: A Young Predicament Poem by Apiwe Gobodo

The Edge Of Reason: A Young Predicament

If the shoe fits in the box
Are toys broken when children play with experiment?
Or are they lost?
The toys
Or the children, it depends who's looking when brain is cooking
Mother shook the tree and brought the house down
Father shut it down
Chores?

'I'm afraid so'
I'm afraid to grow because I was still having fun with my angel on white snow
Where are the guardians when you need them?

Grandma called and said she wants your cheeks to squeeze them
Yes! can I?
'No! '

Let me guess
Chores? ?
'I'm afraid so'

But what about experi-
'Expenses for your mistakes don't come cheap so please keep your head down so your eyes can focus on the road'

Growing
Old is a lame story
'Yes because you're the only one who fell in love with experiment'
'How do you think you came into existence?
No regrets
But just listen'
