The Encounter Poem by John Albright

The Encounter

I can't even remember her name
Or where she was from,
Just the silhouette of her body
Standing in the moonlight
As I opened the door.
Her hair caressing her shoulders
And teasingly touching her breasts.
Her eyes-oh those eyes-
Piercing the moonlight
And sending shivers through my body...
My legs have just finished a marathon
(Or so they feel) ...
I reach out my hand to touch her cheek
As she presses her body to mine.
Is it her heart or mine
That is ready to burst from confinement?
The embrace is so tight
That our bodies have passed through each other...
I deeply breathe in her soul!
Parting slightly,
Our lips meet-
A soft, gentle kiss
A passionate kiss-
We have yet to move from the doorway,
But we don't care,
For we have each other in this time,
At this moment...
After what seems like an eternity,
We part and go in opposite directions...
Not one word having been spoken
