The End Of I Poem by Vincent Bayer

The End Of I

I've used the word I
Enough times for one life
From now on
Its only you, us, and we.
There's been enough
Overinflated
Self- absorbed babble,
Excreted from the mouths
Of much more articulate people
To fill a hundred libraries...

The word I is now excluded
From all official communication.
Unless its to say
I love, or I can, or I see
There's been too much focus
On I, me, and my
In this vain and selfish age
So there'll be no more I
Only us...
